About Dr. G. Shreekumar Menon
Dr G. Shreekmar Menon was born on april 9th 1955 at ernakulam, kerala. He belongs to the 1978 Batch of the Indian Revenue Service, Customs & Excise. He holds a M.A. & L.L.B. Degree, and has a Doctorate Degree in Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances from Mangalore University. He has been awarded certificates in Management Program from Mawell School of Public Administration, Syracuse University (U.S.A.), Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He ia a Fellow of the James Martin Centre For Non Proliferation Studies, San Francisco, USA, and CITS, University of Georgia. In addition he is an AOTS scholar from Japan.
He has served in different capacities as Assistant Commissioner / Deputy Commissioner / Joint Commissioner / Additional Commissioner / Commissioner at Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mangalore, Patna, Guwahati, Shillong, Goa and retired as Director General at the National Academy of Customs, Excise & Narcotics (NACEN), Faridabad and Director General, Multi-Disciplinary School of Economic Intelligence, Mumbai. The National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics (NACEN), Faridabad is the apex Training Institution, which caters to the training needs of cadre strength of 75000 officers of the Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax and Narcotics Departments. The Academy imparts Induction and Professional Training of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) Probationers, appointed through Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Mid-Career Training Programmes, Furbisher and specialized training programmes for in-service training of the senior officers of the Department on a variety of subjects. NACEN is an accredited Regional Training Centre of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), United Nations Office of Drug Control (UNODC) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
He has also served as Trustee of New Mangalore Port Trust. He has been appointed as Election Observer by the Election Commission of India in the Constituencies of Chamoli (Uttrakhand State), Jaipur, Satara and Palghat.
He has distinguished himself as a renowned Counter Narcotics Specialist. He has trained hundreds of officers of the Indian Customs, Narcotics Control Bureau, Central Bureau of Narcotics. He is a guest faculty on Narcotics, Narco-Terrorism and Money Laundering at Military Intelligence School Pune, National Defense Academy Khadakvasala, National Defense College New Delhi, Armored Corps School Ahmednagar, 23 Infantry Division Ranchi. He is also delivering lectures at Naval Warfare School Goa, and Coast Guard Academy, Cochin.
He has also been active on the international scene by delivering lectures at the Russian Customs Academy, Counter-Narcotics program for Afghan Police Officers, Bhutan Customs, Nepal Customs, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Police Officers of African States under Indo-African summit.
He has led Indian Customs delegations to Moscow, Brussels, and Baku.
His lecture on “Aviation science in Ancient India’, has been telecast on Sri Sankara TV channel in 12 episodes during October- November, 2013. He is a regular lecturer on this subject at various Engineering Colleges in different parts of India.
He is a prolific writer and has written innumerable articles and publications on taxation and Public Administration.
He has written books on Narcotics notably “Chasing The Dragon”, Co-authored books on “Rave-Parties – Party Drugs”, “Role of Sniffer Dogs in Narcotics Detection”, and a Book Slogans on Anti-Narcotics Theme.
